Cobeja's History
Cobeja has a long and interesting past. In 1086, King Alfonso VI gave the land of Cobeja to the church of Santa Maria in Toledo. This happened after the city of Toledo was taken back.
Later, in 1155, 18 new people moved to Cobeja to help it grow. A few years after that, in 1159, the leaders of Toledo gave three-quarters of a nearby village called Alameda to Cobeja. This helped Cobeja expand its area.
In old records from 1232, Cobeja is mentioned as "Couexa." It can be tricky to tell Cobeja apart from another town called Cobisa in some old Arabic writings. This is because their names were written very similarly.
Where is Cobeja Located?
Cobeja is found on a flat area in a region called La Sagra. It is surrounded by several other towns. These include Pantoja, Alameda de la Sagra, Villaseca de la Sagra, and Villaluenga de la Sagra. All these towns are also in the Toledo province.
