Cocol is a very old type of bread from Mexico. It was first made a long time ago, when people from Spain came to the lands of the Mesoamerican cultures. The Spanish showed the local people how to bake bread.
Soon, the people in Mexico started making their own bread. They used ingredients that were easy to find there. This new bread was named cocol. In some parts of Mexico, it is also called torito.
Cocol is made using wheat flour, milk, and eggs. Before it is baked, the dough is shaped like a rhombus. People often enjoy eating cocol with jam.
