At his school, Cody teaches people how to survive in the wild, use old-fashioned living skills, get ready for emergencies in cities, and even how to live off the land. Many people also know Cody Lundin from the TV show Dual Survival on the Discovery Channel, where he was a co-host.

Who is Cody Lundin?

Cody Lundin is famous for his unique approach to survival. He often teaches while wearing shorts and going barefoot, even in cold weather! He believes that understanding how to survive is very important, whether you are in the wilderness or in a city. His lessons help people learn to be prepared for many different situations.

Cody's Early Life and Education

Cody Lundin was an only child. Because his father was in the military, Cody moved around a lot when he was young. He later settled in Laramie, Wyoming, where he went to junior high and high school. After high school, Cody lived in many different ways, sometimes in a commune or even in a simple shelter made of branches. He went to Prescott College in Arizona, where he earned a degree in Depth Psychology and Holistic Health. This means he studied how people think and feel, and how to live a healthy life.

Teaching Survival Skills

Cody Lundin started his Aboriginal Living Skills School in 1991. Here, he shares his knowledge about how to live in nature using both modern and ancient methods. He teaches about:

  • Wilderness survival: How to find food, water, and shelter when you are lost in nature.
  • Primitive living skills: Learning old ways of living, like making fire without matches or building shelters from natural materials.
  • Urban preparedness: How to be ready for emergencies if you live in a city, like power outages or natural disasters.
  • Homesteading: Learning to be self-sufficient and live off the land.

TV Adventures: Dual Survival

From 2010 to 2014, Cody Lundin was a co-host on the popular Discovery Channel show Dual Survival. On the show, he and another survival expert would be put in tough wilderness situations. They would show viewers different ways to survive using their unique skills. Cody was known for always wearing shorts and going barefoot, no matter the weather!

In 2014, Cody announced that he was no longer on the show. He said this was because he and the show's producers had different ideas about safety.

Living Off-Grid

Cody Lundin lives in a very special way. He lives off-the-grid in the desert wilderness of northern Arizona. This means his home is not connected to public power lines or water systems. He designed his house to be a passive solar earth home. This type of home uses the sun's energy to stay warm in winter and cool in summer.

Cody collects rainwater for his needs and composts his waste. By living this way, he does not have to pay for electricity, water, or gas. It's a great example of living in harmony with nature and being very self-sufficient.
