History of Coffey
How Coffey Got Its Name
The city of Coffey was first established in 1856. It was originally known as Coffeyburg. A person named B. H. Coffey founded the town, and that's how it got its name!
From Coffeyburg to Coffey
A post office was set up in Coffeyburg in 1867. Later, in 1910, the name of the town was officially changed to just Coffey.

Coffey is found in the north-central part of Daviess County. It sits right along Missouri Route 13, which is a main road. If you travel south on Route 13, you'll find Jameson about eight miles away. Gallatin is a bit further, about 12 miles south.
