The Story of Big Hutch
Early Life and Music Beginnings
Gregory Hutchison is the son of Richard Hutchison, a songwriter. He is also the nephew of the famous R&B singer Willie Hutch. His family connection to music helped him start his own journey.
In late 1989, his group, Above the Law, signed with Ruthless Records. ..... This album was worked on by the well-known producer Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre later left the label to start Death Row Records. Members of the group N.W.A also appeared on the album.
Making Music at Ruthless Records
After Dr. Dre left and N.W.A broke up, Hutchison played a big part in Ruthless Records' success. He produced music for many artists on the label. This included songs for Eazy-E's albums 5150: Home 4 tha Sick and It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa. He also produced for MC Ren's The Villain in Black and other projects.
Moving to Death Row Records
Hutch and his group left Ruthless Records in 1996. In 1999, Suge Knight brought him to Death Row Records. There, Hutchison took over as the main producer. He oversaw the creation of many albums during his time there.
In 2004, Above the Law paused their work because Hutchison faced legal issues. After his release, the group started recording and touring again. As a solo artist, Hutchison released Fresh Out the Pen in 2008. He also released EF U Hutch in 2010 and Only God Can Judge Me in 2011. These were made with Big Shot Music Group.
Touring and New Labels
In 2011, as Big Hutch, he toured with Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, and Blaze Ya Dead Homie. This was part of the American Psychos Tour in October. Hutchison was featured on a song called "Where Do We Go From Here?", recorded during that tour.
Later that year, it was announced that Hutchison signed with Psychopathic Records. His album The Only Solution came out on October 22, 2012. Hutchison left Psychopathic in 2013.
