Gregory Fernard Hutchison (born August 4, 1967) is an American rapper and music producer. He is also known by his stage names Big Hutch and Cold 187um. He is the leader of the rap group Above the Law. Today, he records music for his own record label.

About Cold 187um
His Early Music Journey
Gregory Hutchison is the son of songwriter Richard Hutchison. He is also the nephew of the famous R&B singer Willie Hutch. His group, Above the Law, released their first album in 1990. This album was created with the help of producer Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre later started his own record company, Death Row Records.
Hutchison played a big part in the success of Ruthless Records. He helped produce many albums for other artists. These included Eazy-E's 5150: Home 4 tha Sick and It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa. He also worked on MC Ren's The Villain in Black.
Working with Other Artists
In 1996, Hutch and his group left Ruthless Records. A few years later, in 1999, he joined Suge Knight at Death Row Records. There, he became the main producer. He oversaw the making of many albums during his time there.
As a solo artist, Hutchison released his own music. His albums include Fresh Out the Pen (2008), EF U Hutch (2010), and Only God Can Judge Me (2011). He worked with Big Shot Music Group on these projects.
In 2011, Hutchison toured with popular groups like Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid. He was also featured on a song called "Where Do We Go From Here?". Later, he signed with Psychopathic Records. His album The Only Solution came out in 2012. He left Psychopathic in 2013.
New Music and Recognition
On April 1, 2014, Hutchison released his self-produced album, The Big Hit. He also produced a song for Cali Barnes called "Remember Me". In August 2015, Cold 187 um was featured on Dr. Dre's album Compton. He appeared on the song "Loose Cannons".
In October 2015, an article called him one of "5 Legendary Hip Hop Producers You Never Hear About." The article praised him for helping create the G-Funk sound. This sound was very important for West Coast hip hop.
In 2016, Hutchison appeared in the Netflix Originals show Hip-Hop Evolution. He was in the episode about "The Birth of Gangsta Rap". On October 10, 2016, Cold 187 um released The Black Godfather. This was a double album with many guest artists.
In 2023, Hutchison was even featured as a playable character in the video game Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
What "187um" Means
The "um" in his name, "187um," is part of his unique artistic identity. It is meant to sound like "Sevum," similar to how "5th" sounds like "Fifth."
