The Cold Point Historic District is a special area in Plymouth Township and Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It's called a "historic district" because it has many old and important buildings. These buildings help us learn about the past.
This district is like an extension of another historic area nearby, the Plymouth Meeting Historic District. The Cold Point district includes 62 important buildings and one special site. These date back a long time, from 1745 to 1878. Most of the buildings are two-and-a-half stories tall and made of stone covered in stucco. Many were built in the early to mid-1800s. Some even show off cool styles like Greek Revival and Gothic Revival.
Some of the most famous buildings here are the Alan West Corson Homestead, the Cold Point Baptist Church, and the Cold Point School. This entire district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. This means it's officially recognized as important to American history.

Exploring Cold Point's History
Cold Point is located on a small hill where Plymouth and Whitemarsh townships meet. It's a scattered village with many old houses. This area has a rich history that goes back to the 1800s.
The Cold Point Baptist Church
The Cold Point Baptist Church is a very important building in the district. It was first known as the Plymouth Church. People started gathering for services around 1842. At first, they met in the local schoolhouse.
The first stone church building had its cornerstone laid in 1845. It was used until 1867. The church you see today was built shortly after. Its cornerstone was laid in August 1867, and it was finished and dedicated in 1868. The church grounds are about two and a half acres and are very well kept.
Notable People and Places
From the church grounds, you can get a great view of the surrounding countryside. You can see much of Plymouth Township. Near the church was the home of Alan W. Corson. He was a well-known teacher, surveyor, nurseryman, and botanist. He passed away in 1882 at 95 years old.
The church also has a burial ground. Many families who lived in the area long ago are buried there. Some of the names you might see on the tombstones include Freas, Rodebaugh, Lysinger, and Williams.
