Coledale Beck facts for kids

Coledale Beck is a small river that flows through the beautiful county of Cumbria in England. It's located in the Lake District, an area famous for its stunning mountains and valleys.

Where Coledale Beck Flows

Coledale Beck begins high up in the mountains, close to a peak known as Crag Hill. It forms when two smaller streams, Pudding Beck and Birkthwaite Beck, meet and combine their waters.

From its start, the beck flows through a scenic valley called Coledale. It winds its way between two impressive mountains, Grisedale Pike and Causey Pike.

After leaving the valley, Coledale Beck passes through the small village of Braithwaite. As it continues its journey, it is joined by another stream called Barrow Gill. This stream flows north from the mountain known as Barrow. The writer Alfred Wainwright once described Barrow Gill as having an amazing, deep ravine, which is like a very narrow, steep-sided valley. Finally, Coledale Beck flows into Newlands Beck.
