This butterfly lives across a wide area in Canada. Its home stretches from British Columbia all the way to Newfoundland. You can also find it further south in the United States, in states like Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

The Pelidne Sulphur butterfly usually flies during the summer. You can see them from late June until early August. They are most active during these months.
Size of the Pelidne Sulphur
These butterflies are not very big. Their wingspan, which is the distance from one wingtip to the other when the wings are spread out, ranges from 33 to 44 millimeters. That's about the length of a few paper clips!
What Pelidne Sulphur Caterpillars Eat
The young forms of these butterflies are called larvae or caterpillars. These caterpillars mostly eat plants from the Vaccinium family. This includes plants like blueberries and cranberries. They also feed on a plant called Gaultheria humifusa.
