Colin Salmon is a famous English actor. He was born on December 6, 1961. You might know him from the James Bond films, where he played Charles Robinson. He also appeared as James "One" Shade in the Resident Evil movies.
Colin Salmon has been in many popular TV shows. These include Doctor Who, Merlin, and Arrow. He also played General Zod in the TV series Krypton. In 2023, he joined the cast of the BBC show EastEnders as George Knight. He also lent his voice to the video game Blood & Truth.
Colin Salmon's Early Life and Music
Colin Roy Salmon was born in Bethnal Green, London, England. His mother, Sylvia Ivy Brudenell Salmon, was a nurse. Colin grew up in Luton and went to Ashcroft High School.
After school, Colin became a drummer in a punk rock band called The Friction. He formed the band with three friends from high school. They released some music and played shows around Luton in 1979 and 1980. Colin also played with other bands, like the Tee Vees and Catch.
Colin is also a talented trumpet player. He has his own jazz quartet. They perform at special events and jazz festivals. He enjoys playing jazz music when he is not busy acting.
Colin Salmon's Acting Career
Colin Salmon is well-known for his role as Charles Robinson. This character appeared in three James Bond films: Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. His first big acting role was in 1992. He played Sgt. Robert Oswald in the British TV mini-series Prime Suspect 2.
He also played Note Makoti in The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Another role was David Tyrel in the TV series Hex. In 2006, he was Dr. Rowan Dunlop in the drama Bad Girls.
Colin Salmon appeared in two episodes of Doctor Who as Dr. Moon. These episodes were "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead". Some people even thought he might become the next Doctor! The writer Steven Moffat later said he imagined Colin's character as a future version of the Doctor.
Colin played James "One" Shade in the movie Resident Evil in 2002. He played a clone of the character in the 2012 sequel Resident Evil: Retribution. He was also Captain Oonu in the 2002 mini-series Dinotopia. Other films he has been in include Captives (1994) and My Kingdom (2001).
In 2008, Colin played Louis in the film Clubbed. This movie was about nightclub bouncers in Coventry in the 1980s. He also appeared in the UK version of Law & Order as barrister Doug Greer. In 2012, he was in Death in Paradise. He also starred in the thriller film Exam.
In 2012, Colin was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing. This is a popular BBC One show where celebrities dance with professional partners. He was partnered with Kristina Rihanoff. Colin Salmon is married to Fiona Hawthorne, who is a visual artist. They got married in 1988 and have four children.
Colin cares about helping others. He supports the African-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust. He is also an ambassador for The Prince's Trust, which helps young people. He is involved with the Notting Hill Carnival and is the dance captain for the Fox Carnival Band.
In 2009, he helped start Cage Cricket with Trevor McArdle. This is a new way to play cricket in smaller spaces. In 2010, his friend Samuel L. Jackson invited him to a golf tournament in Switzerland. This event raised money for a new hospital in Cambodia.
In 2021, Colin shared that he had been ill with COVID-19. He thanked the doctors for saving his life.
