College Heights was once a small community called a hamlet. It is now part of the City of Lacombe in Alberta, Canada. This area is special because it is home to Burman University.
College Heights is located about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) south of Highway 2. It is also about 26 kilometers (16 miles) north of the city of Red Deer.
What Was College Heights?
Before the year 2000, College Heights was officially recognized as a hamlet. A hamlet is a small community, often smaller than a village or town. It was managed by Lacombe County, which is a larger local government area.
Becoming Part of Lacombe
In 2000, a big change happened for College Heights. The Province of Alberta decided that College Heights and some other lands from Lacombe County would become part of the City of Lacombe. This process is called an annexation. It means one area officially joins another.
The annexation was approved on April 12, 2000. However, it was made official starting from January 1, 2000. This meant that College Heights was no longer a separate hamlet. Instead, it became a neighborhood within the City of Lacombe.
