Collores is a small area, like a neighborhood or a village, located in the municipality of Yauco, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 773 people lived there. It is one of the many barrios (which means "neighborhoods" or "districts") that make up the different towns in Puerto Rico.
History of Collores
After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This made Puerto Rico an unincorporated territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, found that 893 people lived in the Collores barrio at that time. The population has changed over the years, as shown in the table below.
