Colmenarejo (Spanish: [kolmenaˈɾexo]) is a town and municipality in Spain. It is located in the Community of Madrid, in the northwest part of the region. The town sits at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains.
Colmenarejo is about 899 meters (2,950 feet) above sea level. It is also about 37 kilometers (23 miles) away from Madrid, the capital city. The town shares borders with El Escorial to the north and Galapagar to the east. To the south is Villanueva del Pardillo, and to the west is Valdemorillo. The main road to Colmenarejo is the M-510.
A special feature of Colmenarejo is the eastern side of the Valmayor reservoir. This is the second largest reservoir in the Madrid region. The town also has a campus of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Colmenarejo is part of the Regional Park of the middle course of the Guadarrama River. This area is great for bike rides and has many holm oaks, junipers, and ash trees.
How Colmenarejo is Governed
The local government of Colmenarejo is run by its Town Hall. This Town Hall has 13 councillors. These councillors are chosen by the people of the town in elections every four years. The mayor leads the municipal council. Decisions are made in meetings called plenary sessions and through special committees.

Mayors of Colmenarejo
The mayor is the head of the town's government. The current mayor of Colmenarejo is Fernando Juanas Cerrada. He is from the PP. He leads the town with the help of a group of parties including Partido Local de Colmenarejo (PALCO) and Unión y Compromiso Colmenarejo (UYCC). Together, they have enough support to make decisions for the town.
