Colona is a city in Henry County, Illinois. It is located along the Green River. Colona is part of the Quad Cities area. This is a larger group of cities that are close together. In 2020, about 5,045 people lived there.
The city of Colona was formed in 1997. This happened when the old city of Green Rock and the old village of Colona joined together. It was the first time a community in Illinois merged because people voted for it.

Colona is found at coordinates 41.475684 degrees North and -90.348787 degrees West. The city is near the Rock River. It sits in a valley with higher land around it.
The Green River and the Hennepin Canal both flow into the Rock River (Mississippi River) right here. According to the 2010 census, Colona covers about 4.13 square miles (10.7 square kilometers). Most of this area is land.
