The Color Factory is a super fun and interactive art experience. It features bright, colorful rooms filled with unique art installations. Each room is designed around a different color theme. You can find permanent Color Factory locations in New York City, Chicago, and Houston.

Many people call Color Factory an "Instagram museum." This means it's a place designed to be very visual and perfect for taking cool photos. People often share these photos on social media like Instagram. However, one of its founders, Jordan Ferney, says her main goal was to create something beautiful to experience, not just to photograph.

Artists like Jason Polan, Lakwena Maciver, and Molly Young have shown their work here. Some of the exciting exhibits include giant ball pits, rooms full of balloons, and glowing illuminated dance floors. There are even cameras set up to help you capture your visit!

History of Color Factory

Color Factory was started in August 2017. It was created by event planner Jordan Ferney, artist Leah Rosenberg, and designer Erin Jang. The very first Color Factory was a temporary exhibit in San Francisco. It had 15 different art installations and was open for about a month.

It became so popular that its ticketing website crashed! Because so many people loved it, the San Francisco exhibit stayed open for over eight months.

In 2018, Color Factory worked with the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City. They created an outdoor art project called the "Manhattan Color Walk." This project painted colorful stripes on the ground, with each color taken from a different street in Manhattan.

Later in August 2018, Color Factory opened a new temporary exhibit in New York City's SoHo neighborhood. This one had 16 installations and was even bigger.

In November 2019, Color Factory opened another exciting exhibit in Houston. In 2024, USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards named Color Factory one of the best immersive art experiences in the United States.
