How the Show Works: The Dinner Party Challenge
The show features five amateur chefs who live in the same area. Each person hosts a three-course dinner party at their own home. The other contestants then rate the host's food and their hosting skills. They do this during their taxi ride home. The chef with the highest score wins £1,000 cash! The show often features guests who have very different personalities.
The episodes with the same group of chefs are shown one after another. In earlier series, there were only four chefs instead of five.
Dave Lamb provides a voiceover for the show. His comments are often sarcastic and funny. He might joke about the chefs' cooking or their home decorations.
Memorable Moments on the Show
One episode from 2016 became very famous. A contestant named Peter Marsh made some unfriendly comments. He was upset about losing to the winner, Jane. He told her and the other contestants that she had "all the grace of a reversing dump truck."
Another moment that went viral online involved contestant Kev Riley. A video clip of him fitting a balloon whisk into his mouth became very popular. Kev later explained that he did it just to make the producer laugh. This clip has been viewed over 100 million times on social media. It even led to merchandise being sold and Kev appearing at events.
Changes Due to COVID-19
From 2020, the show changed its format because of COVID-19. Instead of visiting each other's homes, all five contestants cooked and ate in the same house. The location of this house changed depending on the city where the episodes were filmed.
