David Alexander Lamb (born on 17 January 1969) is a well-known English actor, comedian, narrator, and presenter. You probably know his voice best from narrating the popular TV show Come Dine with Me. He's also been in many British TV and radio comedy shows, like Goodness Gracious Me. Plus, he used to host the fun CBBC game show Horrible Histories: Gory Games.

Dave Lamb's Early Life

Dave Lamb grew up in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, where he went to the Broxbourne School. After that, he studied philosophy and literature at the University of Warwick.

Starting His Career

Dave Lamb's first acting role was in a British TV show called How Do You Want Me? in 1998. Soon after, he became known for appearing in the sketch comedy show Goodness Gracious Me. He was the only regular white actor in the cast.

Through the 1990s and early 2000s, he also appeared in other comedy shows. These included People Like Us, Hippies, and Armstrong and Miller. He even had a small part in a couple of episodes of the famous soap opera EastEnders.

The Voice You Know!

Dave Lamb is super famous for his voice-over work. He was one of the main voice actors on the cartoon 2DTV. But he really became a household name for his funny and sarcastic narration on the dinner party show Come Dine with Me. This show started in 2005.

He once said that in the first series, he made up a lot of his lines on the spot. Now, the show's writers know his style well and write lines especially for his voice. He also mentioned he would never be a contestant on the celebrity version of the show. He joked that he wasn't famous enough!

More Voice Roles

Dave Lamb has lent his voice to many other projects. In 2008 and 2010, he voiced characters in the video games Fable II and Fable III.

From 2010 to 2013, he narrated Come Dine with Me-style sketches for five episodes of Horrible Histories. He also narrated a special section of Blue Peter in 2011. This section was a funny spoof of Come Dine with Me set at a zoo, with animals as the guests!

He narrates Come Dine with Me Ireland and Come Dine with Me South Africa. You might also recognize his voice from the CBeebies animated shows Big Barn Farm and Waybuloo.

In 2015, he became the narrator for the new version of Danger Mouse. He also voices a character called Stiletto Mafiosa in the series. He even narrates the live stage show of Danger Mouse at Butlins.

In 2018, Dave Lamb was the commentator for the BBC One game show And They're Off ... for Sport Relief.

Besides his voice work, Dave Lamb has acted in TV shows. He played a producer named Des in the BBC show The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle in 2007. In 2008, he played a TV writer named Carl Morris in ITV's Moving Wallpaper. He also appeared in two episodes of Only Fools and Horses prequel Rock & Chips.

From 2011 to 2018, he co-hosted the CBBC children's game show Horrible Histories: Gory Games. In 2009, he appeared in an episode of Miranda. In 2014, he reunited with the original cast of Goodness Gracious Me for a special show.

In 2016, Dave Lamb actually appeared on screen for Come Dine with Me for the first time! He presented Come Dine with Me: Champion of Champions.

Radio and Stage

Dave Lamb was part of a radio comedy group called The Cheese Shop. He has also been in many radio shows, including The Bigger Issues and The Alan Davies Show. He even wrote a radio drama called London, Europe for Radio 4. In 2013, his own sitcom, Hobby Bobbies, was aired on Radio 4.

In 2003, Dave Lamb made his first appearance on stage. He acted alongside famous stars like Russ Abbot and Eric Sykes in a play called Caught in the Net at the Vaudeville Theatre.
