Conasprella boholensis is a fascinating type of sea snail. It's a marine gastropod, which means it's a kind of mollusk that lives in the ocean. This snail belongs to the Conidae family, often called the cone snails.
Just like other snails in its group, Conasprella boholensis is a predatory animal. This means it hunts other small creatures for food. These snails are also venomous. Because of their venom, it's very important to be careful around them. If you ever see one, it's best not to touch it.
What Does Its Shell Look Like?
The shell of Conasprella boholensis is quite special. It's thin and looks very shiny, almost like glass. The shell has a straight shape and gets narrower towards the front.
The top part of the shell, called the shoulder, is very sharp. The early spirals of the shell have small bumps. The main part of the shell has many deep, spiral grooves.
The shell is usually pure white. It often has small, scattered red-brown marks. The opening of the shell is also white. These shells can be between 22 mm and 51 mm long.
Where Does It Live?
This marine snail was first found deep in the ocean. Its original discovery place was about 250 meters deep. This was off Panglao, which is an island in Bohol, Philippines.
Today, we know this species lives in several different ocean areas. You can find Conasprella boholensis off the coasts of Somalia and the Philippines. It also lives near Vietnam, New Caledonia, and off Western Australia.
