Concord is an area within the town of Washington in City of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. It's located between the cities of Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne. This means Concord has close connections to all three of these important cities.

Historically, Concord was part of County Durham. It joined the county of Tyne and Wear in 1974 when this new county was formed.

Exploring Concord

The main street in the centre of Concord is called Front Street. Here you can find several local shops, places to eat, and cafes. Concord is also home to the Washington Millennium Centre, located in an area called The Oval. This centre offers fun youth clubs for children and young people. It also has an outdoor football area and hosts many other regular activities. The area also has a small health centre, the Victoria Health Centre, which is on Victoria Road, close to the bus station.

Concord is surrounded by other villages. These include Albany, Donwell, Usworth, Sulgrave and Follingsby. There are also industrial areas nearby, like Stephenson and Hertburn. The large Nissan UK Factory is also close by.
