Condon is a small, quiet community in Missoula County, Montana, United States. It's not a city with its own government but a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's an area the government defines for counting people.
Condon is located right by the Swan River and Montana Highway 83. It's nestled between two mountain ranges: the Swan Range to the east and the Mission Mountains to the west. This location gives people easy access to amazing wild areas like the Bob Marshall Wilderness and Mission Mountains Wilderness. In 2020, about 285 people lived in Condon.
The community has its own U.S. post office, which opened in 1952. Condon was named after James L. Condon, who was a logger and farmer from the Corvallis area. The U.S. Forest Service also has an airport here.
Geography of Condon
Condon is in the northern part of Missoula County. It's about 80 miles north of Missoula, which is the county seat. It's also about 64 miles south of Kalispell.
The land in Condon is quite varied. Along the Swan River, the elevation ranges from about 3,540 feet in the north to 3,800 feet in the south. To the east, the land rises to about 5,200 feet at the base of the Swan Range mountains. The Swan River flows into the Flathead River, so Condon is part of that river system.
The total area of Condon is about 21.6 square miles. Most of this is land, with only a small part, about 0.2 square miles, being water.

Condon has a type of weather called a humid continental climate. This means it has big differences in temperature throughout the year. Summers are usually warm to hot, and sometimes humid. Winters are cold, and can sometimes be very cold, with lots of snow.
