History of Conesville
Conesville has an interesting past! It was once an important stop on the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway, which was a train line. The city got its name from a wealthy landowner named Beebe Stewart Cone. He had also owned a distillery in Ohio, but it burned down in 1857. Later, by 1870, he became a well-known farmer in Muscatine County, Iowa.
