Connie Price-Smith (born Constance Marie Price on June 3, 1962) is a famous American athlete. She was a top competitor in track and field events. Connie was especially good at the shot put and discus throw. She even competed in the Olympic Games four times! Connie graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1985.

Connie's Coaching Career

After her time as an athlete, Connie Price-Smith became a successful coach. In 2012, she was chosen to be part of the coaching team for the United States Olympic track and field team. This was for the 2012 Olympics held in London.

On July 21, 2015, Connie took on a big new role. She became the head coach for track and field at the University of Mississippi. The next year, she was again named the women's head coach for the U.S. team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2016, Connie Price-Smith received a very special honor. She was elected into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame. This shows how important her contributions were to the sport.

Connie's International Competitions

Connie Price-Smith competed for the United States in many big international events. She showed great skill in both shot put and discus throw.

  • In 1991, she earned a silver medal in the shot put at the Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba.
  • She won a gold medal in the shot put at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
  • Connie won another gold medal in the shot put at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada.

World Championships and Other Events

Connie also competed in many World Championships and World Indoor Championships. She consistently ranked among the top athletes in the world. For example, she placed 5th in shot put at the 1997 World Championships in Athens, Greece. She also won a silver medal in shot put at the 1995 World Indoor Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
