Becoming a Costume Designer

Consolata Boyle was born on May 23, 1949. She went to Holy Child Killiney secondary school in County Dublin, Ireland. Later, she studied Archaeology and History at University College Dublin. She graduated in 1972.

While at university, she joined a drama group called Dramsoc. This sparked her interest in costumes. She trained in costume design at the famous Abbey Theatre. She also earned a special diploma in textiles. Her career in costume design began in the early 1980s.

Movies and TV Shows

Consolata Boyle has designed costumes for many well-known films. Some of her early works include Anne Devlin (1984) and December Bride (1991). She also worked on Into the West (1992).

Later, she designed costumes for Angela's Ashes (1999). She also worked on Nora (2000) and When Brendan Met Trudy (2001). More recently, she created costumes for The Iron Lady (2011) and Miss Julie (2014). She also worked on Testament of Youth (2014).
