Constitution Hill is a suburb located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It sits on a hill about 28 kilometers west of the main Sydney city center. This area is part of the City of Parramatta and offers great views of Parramatta and the inner Sydney skyline.

Exploring Constitution Hill's Past
Constitution Hill was once a smaller part of the nearby suburb of Wentworthville. It officially became its own suburb on January 19, 2007.
Old Homes in the Area
Even though the suburb is fairly new, some older houses still stand from before its main development. For example, you can see houses at 17A and 53 Fraser Street. These were likely built by J.C. Page for the family of a local farmer named David Johnston. Another old house, 15 Fitzwilliam Road, is also thought to be one of these original homes.

Constitution Hill's Role in History
Constitution Hill played a part in the famous Castle Hill convict rebellion. This event involved mostly Irish convicts who planned to challenge the authorities.
The Convicts' Plan
The convicts would travel from Castle Hill and gather at Constitution Hill. They hoped to create a distraction at Castle Hill to draw away government forces. Their main goal was to then attack Parramatta, which was a very important settlement at the time, and take control.
The Government's Response
However, government officials suspected the convicts were planning something big. They kept most of their forces ready in Parramatta. At first, they thought the convicts were in Toongabbie, but then they learned they were at Constitution Hill. When the government forces reached the top of Constitution Hill, at a spot called Mount Dorothy, they realized the convicts had moved further west to Rouse Hill. Today, Mount Dorothy is part of Caloola Road Reserve, where you can find plaques remembering the rebellion.
Shopping and Services
The main shopping area in Constitution Hill is called Constitution Hill Shops. It has 14 different stores, a library, and a park. Next to it, you'll find the Old Toongabbie Early Childhood Health Centre. This area is located near the center of the suburb, at the corner of Emma Crescent and Hollis Street. You can also get there from Bulli Road and Greenleaf Street. Interestingly, one of the pizza restaurants here was used for filming the TV series Fat Pizza: Back In Business.

Toongabbie East Public School
The only school located within Constitution Hill's boundaries is Toongabbie East Public School. In 2015, it was one of the smaller schools in New South Wales, with 53 students and 4 teachers.
