The Conasprella bajanensis is a type of sea snail. It is a marine gastropod mollusk that belongs to the family Conidae. This family is also known as the cone snails.

Like all snails in the Conasprella group, these snails are predatory. This means they hunt and eat other small sea creatures. They are also venomous. Their venom can "sting" humans. Because of this, it is very important to be careful with live Conasprella bajanensis snails. It is best not to touch them at all.

What Does Conasprella bajanensis Look Like?

The shell of the Conasprella bajanensis snail can be between 20 mm and 35 mm long. That's about the size of a small to medium-sized button.

The name bajanensis suggests it comes from Barbados. However, it is believed that the first specimens of this snail were found by shrimpers. These shrimpers were based in Barbados but actually caught shrimp off the coast of Guyana. Guyana is about 300 miles south of Barbados.

Where Does Conasprella bajanensis Live?

This sea snail lives in marine waters on the continental shelf. You can find it off the coast of Tobago and also off French Guiana.

Even though its name links it to Barbados, this snail has not been found in the waters near Barbados. Many searches have been done there over the years, but no Conasprella bajanensis snails have been discovered in 'Bajan' waters.
