The Conus bullatus, also known as the bubble cone, is a type of sea snail. It's a marine gastropod mollusk, which means it's a snail that lives in the ocean. This snail belongs to the Conidae family, often called the cone snails.

Just like other cone snails, the bubble cone is a predatory animal. This means it hunts and eats other creatures. It's also venomous, so it can sting. Because of this, it's very important to be careful around live bubble cones and avoid touching them.

What Does the Bubble Cone Look Like?

The shell of an adult bubble cone can be anywhere from about 42 millimeters (about 1.6 inches) to 82 millimeters (about 3.2 inches) long. Its shell is thin and looks a bit puffed up, with grooves near the bottom.

The shell's main color is white. It often has cloudy patches of orange-red and brown (chestnut) that form two unclear bands around it. You might also see faint rows of white and brown spots. The opening of the shell, called the aperture, is usually pink.

Where Do Bubble Cones Live?

You can find the bubble cone in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. They live near places like the Mascarene Basin and Mauritius. They are also found across the Indo-West Pacific region, including the Philippines and New Caledonia.
