Conus denizi is a type of sea snail. It's a ocean creature, part of a group called gastropods, which are mollusks. This snail belongs to the Conidae family, also known as cone snails.

Like other cone snails, Conus denizi is a predatory animal. This means it hunts other creatures for food. These snails are also venomous, so they can sting. It's important to be very careful with them, or even better, not touch them at all.

What Does it Look Like?

The shell of Conus denizi is quite small. It is one of the smallest types of snails found only in the Cape Verde Islands. The shell has a cone shape, but it's a bit rounded and stretched out. The top part, called the spire, is not too tall. It has 4 to 5 clear ridges.

The main part of the shell is mostly smooth. However, it has 8 to 10 spiral grooves near the bottom. The spire is mainly white with dark brown patches. The rest of the shell is olive-green or light olive-green. It usually has three broken spiral bands. These bands are made of white spots, sometimes in zigzag or chevron shapes. These spots often have brown or dark brown marks.

The very tip of the shell's front part is dark brown. Inside the shell, the opening (called the aperture) is purplish-brown when the snail is fresh. It has two whitish bands inside. One is in the middle, and another is just below the shoulder. The inner edge of the opening is yellowish. The outer skin of the shell, called the periostracum, is thin, yellow, smooth, and see-through.

Where Does it Live?

This snail species is found in a specific place. It lives on Praia Grande. This is on the northeast coast of São Vicente Island, which is part of Cape Verde.
