The Conus ochroleucus, often called the prefect cone, is a type of sea snail. It is a marine gastropod mollusk that belongs to the Conidae family. This family includes all the different kinds of cone snails.

Like all cone snails, these creatures are predatory, meaning they hunt other animals for food. They are also venomous. This means they can "sting" humans. Because of their venom, it is very important to handle live cone snails with extreme care, or better yet, not at all.

There are different types or subspecies of Conus ochroleucus. One well-known type is Conus ochroleucus ochroleucus.

About the Prefect Cone Snail Shell

The shell of an adult Conus ochroleucus can be between 40 mm and 88 mm long. That's about 1.5 to 3.5 inches.

Shell Appearance

The shell is long and narrow. It has faint grooves near its wider bottom part. Its color is usually yellowish-brown. It often has a slightly lighter band in the middle. The opening of the shell, called the aperture, is white. This opening is a bit wider at the front.

Shell Spire

The top part of the shell, known as the spire, is pointed. It has stripes and spots of yellowish-brown and white.
