Coonana is a small Aboriginal community located in Western Australia. It is about 775 kilometres (482 mi) east of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Coonana is found between the towns of Kalgoorlie and Laverton. This area is part of the Goldfields-Esperance region.
In 2006, a count of people called a census showed that 83 people lived in Coonana.

Where is Coonana Located?
The Coonana community is built on a large area of land. This land is called a pastoral lease. A pastoral lease means the land is used for farming animals like sheep or cattle. The lease for Coonana is named Upurl Upurlila Ngurratja. It covers about 250,000-acre (100,000 ha) of land.
Coonana is also close to an important railway line. It is about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the Trans-Australian Railway. This railway is a very long train track that crosses Australia. It runs between the train stations of Chifley and Zanthus.
