Copeland Park, also known as "The Lumber Yard", is a special place in La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA. It's a big stadium where people play and watch baseball. It's the home field for a baseball team called the La Crosse Loggers.
The stadium you see today was built in 2003. Before that, there was a smaller baseball field in the same spot. When Copeland Park first opened, it could hold about 2,000 fans. But the La Crosse Loggers became very popular! So, the stadium was made bigger. Now, it can fit 3,550 people. The baseball field itself has specific sizes: 325 feet to left field, 365 feet to center field, and 315 feet to right field.
Cool Upgrades at the Park
On May 10, 2012, the La Crosse Loggers team made an exciting announcement. They teamed up with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-La Crosse) sports department. This partnership meant the UW-La Crosse baseball team could start playing their games at Copeland Park.
In return for this, Copeland Park got some awesome upgrades.
- The infield, which is the area around the bases, was changed to artificial turf. This special surface is great for playing baseball.
- A new, large videoboard was added to the scoreboard in left field. This means fans can see replays and scores even better.
- New batting cages were also installed. These are perfect for players to practice their hitting.
The UW-La Crosse baseball team started playing at Copeland Park in 2014.
Memorable Games and Events
Copeland Park has hosted some big baseball events.
- On July 12, 2006, the stadium was chosen to host the Northwoods League All-Star Game. This is a special game where the best players from the league come together.
- In that game, the North Division team played against the South Division team. The North Division won the game 3–2 in 11 innings, which means it was a very close and exciting game!
- A huge crowd of 3,413 fans came to watch. This was the second-largest crowd ever for a Northwoods League All-Star Game.
