The Story of Coras F.C.
Early Years and Growth
Coras F.C. began on July 19, 1959. It was founded by Francisco Mengibar Bueno. The team quickly joined the Segunda División de México, which was the second division at the time. For many years, from the 1960s to the 1980s, the club mostly played in Mexico's lower football divisions.
In 1986, Coras was invited to play in a special tournament called the Copa de Oro de Occidente. This tournament included teams from both the first and second divisions in the western part of Mexico.
Moving Up and Down
In 1994, the club was invited to play in the very first tournament of the new Primera A league. This league was a step up for them. However, the team had a tough time during its first year. After the 1995–96 tournament, they were moved back down to the Segunda División de México.
In 2002, Coras won the Apertura 2002 tournament in the Segunda División de México. This was a big achievement for them. The club continued to play on and off in different leagues. They even built a new stadium to try and rejoin the Ascenso MX for the Apertura 2012 tournament.
Changes and New Beginnings
In June 2017, the club's owner, Jose Luis Higuera, announced that Coras would no longer exist. This happened after he bought a different club, Club Atlético Zacatepec. Coras then disappeared for about a month.
In July 2017, the management of another club, Cuervos de Ensenada, decided to move their team to Tepic. They renamed it Deportivo Tepic JAP. But this new team faced many money and management problems. Because of these issues, it also disappeared in May 2018.
Before the 2018-19 season, a new team was created called Coras de Nayarit F.C. This new club was formed by buying the license of Acatlán F.C.. Acatlán F.C. had won the Third Division in the 2017-18 season. However, they could not move up to Serie A because they did not meet all the league's rules. Coras de Nayarit was supported by local business people and the state government. In June 2020, this team had to pause its activities. This was due to money problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. So, they did not play in the 2020-21 season.
Final Years and Dissolution
In July 2021, the team started playing again in Serie A. But because of changes in how the club was run, it was renamed Coras F.C. The club also created a reserve team to play in the Liga TDP, which is a lower league for younger players.
On June 28, 2023, the Liga Premier team moved to Piedras Negras, Coahuila. They kept their original name for a while. The Liga TDP team, however, stayed in Tepic. The club explained that they moved because the stadium in Tepic, Estadio Nicolás Álvarez Ortega, was not in good condition. Also, it was hard to use the Estadio Olímpico Santa Teresita.
On July 5, 2024, Coras FC was put on hold by its leaders. This was because there was not enough interest or sponsors to help pay for the team's costs in the Liga Premier. The team did not start playing again for the 2025–26 season. It was officially closed down according to the league's rules.

Sometimes, the team also played matches at the Estadio Nicolás Álvarez Ortega. This stadium is also in Tepic, Nayarit. It is much larger, with a capacity of 12,271 people. Nayarit also owns this stadium, and it has natural grass. It opened in 2011. This was the club's main stadium until 2020. However, in 2021, they decided to stop using it because it was far from the main part of Tepic.
