Early Steps in Government
Corina Porro started her political career in the city of Vigo. From 1995 to 1999, she was a member of the local government. She belonged to the Galician People's Party.
After that, from 1999 to 2001, she worked as the Chief Director of Social Services. This role involved managing services that help people in the community.
Becoming Mayor of Vigo
Between 2002 and 2003, Corina Porro became a deputy in the Parliament of Galicia. She also served as a Councillor of Social Services during this time.
In 2003, Corina Porro was chosen as the mayor of Vigo. This happened after a special vote called a censure motion. This motion removed the previous mayor, Ventura Pérez Mariño, from office.
