Corine Spier-Rottschäfer (born May 8, 1938 – died September 24, 2020) was a famous model and beauty queen from the Netherlands. She made history by becoming the first Dutch woman to win the Miss World contest in 1959. This big event took place in London, United Kingdom.

Becoming a Beauty Queen
Corine Rottschäfer was born in a town called Hoorn on May 8, 1938. Before she won the Miss World title, she had already achieved a lot in beauty pageants.
Early Wins
- In 1957, Corine won the title of Miss Europe. This was a big achievement for her.
- The next year, in 1958, she took part in the Miss Universe pageant. She did very well, making it into the top 15 contestants.
- During the Miss Universe contest, she also won a special award called "Miss Photogenic." This meant she looked great in photos!
Miss World 1959 Victory
The Miss World 1959 pageant was a very exciting time for Corine. Just a few hours before the winner was announced, she faced a small problem. She found some holes in her evening dress! Luckily, Miss Israel, Ziva Shomrat, was very kind. She lent Corine her own evening dress. It turned out to be a lucky dress! Corine was chosen as the winner, and Miss Israel came in third place.

- Corine didn't give up! She fought for her business all the way to the Supreme Court.
- Because of her efforts, the law was changed, making it possible for model agencies to operate legally.
- She managed her agency for many years, helping many models, until she retired in 2002.
Family Life
In 1962, Corine married Edo Spier. He was an architect and later became a politician. Corine was also related to another beauty queen, Bodine Koehler, who was Miss Universe Puerto Rico in 2012. Bodine was Corine's second cousin.
Corine Rottschäfer passed away on September 24, 2020. She is remembered as a pioneering model and businesswoman from the Netherlands.
