Early Life and Education

Silva was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. She studied photography in Europe. She earned her first degree from Nottingham Trent University. Artistic Projects

Understanding Landscapes Through Photography

From 2018 to 2020, Silva was an artist consultant for an international research project called Picturing Climate. This project looked at climate and land issues. She showed her work Imported Landscapes in Murcia, Southern Spain and Morocco. She displayed large pictures on billboards in these areas. This project helped people understand the shared history and natural features of these regions. It also explored how hard it is to tell what is truly "native" across different places and borders.

Gardens and Changing Places

In 2015, Silva had a photo exhibition called Garden State in London at The Mosaic Rooms. The show featured many large photographs of gardens in Israel. These images showed how landscapes change over time as people settle in certain areas. Her book, also titled Garden State, was published in 2016 by Ffotogallery and The Mosaic Rooms.

City Landscapes and History

Colin McLaughlin-Alcock, a writer for the journal Visual Anthropology Review, discussed Silva's work Gardening the Suburbs. This project focused on the landscapes of Amman, Jordan. He noted that her work shows how Amman's geography has been shaped by changes in society and history. In 2017, Silva showed her work and helped lead a workshop called Open Lab: Plant/Lives in Amman.

Art and Global Connections

Art critic T. J. Demos wrote about Corinne Silva's photography. He said her work often shows different sides of a story. He noted that her pictures of "waning sovereignty and walled states" highlight the complex ideas of globalization. Her art often shows the differences between wealth and poverty. It does this by looking at buildings and places where people live, including citizens and migrants.
