History of Corley
Corley was founded a long time ago, in 1878. The number of people living there changed over the years. In 1902, about 75 people called Corley home. By 1925, the population grew to 90 people. Later, in 1940, the population was back down to 75.
Where is Corley Located?
Corley is in a nice spot in Iowa. It is very close to the West Nishnabotna River, which is only about 1/7th of a mile away. The community is also near the Harlan Municipal Airport, about 1/4 of a mile from it. Corley is located between two other towns: Harlan and Avoca. It is one of only two special "census-designated places" in Shelby County. The other one is Jacksonville, which is just a few miles away.
