Cornelius Coe was an American professional football player. He was born on September 17, 1975. He played as a defensive specialist for four seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL). His teams included the Indiana Firebirds and the Los Angeles Avengers. He also played college football at Northern Michigan University. Before the AFL, he was part of the Quad City Steamwheelers and Peoria Pirates.

Early Life and High School Sports
Cornelius Coe grew up in Chicago, Illinois. When he was in high school, he attended William Howard Taft High School. During his time there, he was active in sports. He played both football and wrestled for his school teams.
College Football Career
After high school, Coe went on to play college football. He joined the Northern Michigan Wildcats team. He was a key player for four years, earning the title of a letterman.
Coe's Defensive Achievements
During his college career, Coe made a total of 291 tackles. He also had ten interceptions, which means he caught the ball when the other team was trying to pass it. His skills on defense were recognized multiple times.
He was chosen twice for the ALL-MIFC Defense First Team. This honor meant he was one of the best defensive players in his conference. Northern Michigan also named him their Outstanding Defensive Back twice. In his final year, Coe led the Wildcats in tackles with 102. This included 13 tackles where he stopped the opposing team for a loss of yards.
Professional Football Journey
Cornelius Coe began his professional football career in indoor leagues. He played for the Peoria Pirates in the Indoor Football League. Later, he joined the Quad City Steamwheelers in the af2 league in 2000.
Success with the Steamwheelers
Coe helped the Quad City Steamwheelers have an amazing season. They went undefeated with a 19–0 record. The team also won ArenaCup I, which is like their championship game.
Coe was named the af2 Defensive Player of the Year for his outstanding performance. He led the entire league with 169 tackles. He also recovered six fumbles, which was the most in the league. Additionally, he had nine interceptions and forced three fumbles, showing his strong defensive skills.
Playing in the Arena Football League
After his success in af2, Coe moved up to the Arena Football League (AFL). He signed with the Indiana Firebirds on January 22, 2001. He played for the Firebirds during the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
In 2001, he received two important honors. He was named to the Second Team All-Arena and also made the All-Rookie Team. This showed he was one of the best new players in the league. On March 15, 2003, Coe joined the Los Angeles Avengers in the AFL. He played with them until his release on November 24, 2004.
