Costa is a barrio, which is like a neighborhood or district, located in the municipality of Lajas, Puerto Rico. In 2010, its population was 1,628 people.
History of Costa
Puerto Rico became part of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. After the treaty, Puerto Rico became a U.S. territory.
In 1899, the United States government counted the people living in Puerto Rico. They found that the combined population of Costa and a nearby barrio called Parguera was 1,256 people.
