Cottee's is a well-known Australian food and drink brand. It started way back in 1927. Cottee's makes many yummy products. These include sweet cordials, tasty jams, and other spreads. They also make toppings, jellies, and puddings. Today, the company is part of Kraft Heinz. Their drinks are made under a special agreement by Asahi Breweries.

Cottee's Story

How It All Began

Cottee's was started by a dairy farmer named Spencer Milton Cottee. He was born in September 1863 and passed away in June 1944. Spencer Cottee lived in Lismore, New South Wales. He was very important in the dairy farming world. He first worked with a milk product called casein.

Later, Spencer Cottee started making drinks. He turned passionfruit into a popular soft drink called Passiona. A factory was opened in Leichhardt, New South Wales in the 1930s. Passiona was also bottled in South Australia by another company.

Popular Flavours and Growth

Besides Passiona, Cottee's made other popular fizzy drinks. These included Tango, which was orange flavoured. Coola, a lime-flavoured drink, was also very popular. Other flavours like lemon, cola, and lemonade were available too. Cottee's was most popular in the 1960s. Coola is still a favourite cordial in Australia today.

Who Owns Cottee's Now

In 1965, an American company called General Foods bought Cottee's. Then, in 1984, Cadbury Schweppes took over the brand. Later, in 2009, Asahi Breweries bought Schweppes Australia. This means Asahi Breweries now makes Cottee's drinks.
