Discovering Cotter Force
Cotterdale Beck has several smaller waterfalls along its path. However, Cotter Force is the biggest and most impressive one. You can't see this waterfall from the main road. But it's only a short, easy walk to get there.
What Makes Cotter Force Special?
Cotter Force is made up of six different steps. Each step is like its own mini-waterfall. The tallest single drop is about 1.5 meters (5 feet) high. The waterfall is about 4 meters (13 feet) wide at the top. It then gets wider as it flows down. At the bottom, it spreads out to about 13 meters (43 feet) wide.
Getting There
There's a short, easy path that leads to Cotter Force. You can find this path off the A684 road. It's near a place called Holme Heads Bridge. This spot is about 3 kilometers (2 miles) west of the town of Hawes.
Easy Access for Everyone
Thanks to some improvements, Cotter Force is now easy to visit. The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust helped upgrade the footpath. This means people using wheelchairs can now enjoy the waterfall. It's also much easier for visitors who might have trouble walking.
