County Line Beach is a cool beach park located in Solromar, California. This area is part of Ventura County. You can easily get to this sandy beach from the Pacific Coast Highway, which runs right next to it. It's a popular spot for surfing and is managed as part of Leo Carrillo State Park. The beach is found along the rugged coastline of Ventura County, where the Santa Monica Mountains meet the ocean.

Where is County Line Beach?

This beach is the most western community along the Malibu Coast. It even shares the same zip code as Malibu. However, it's not actually part of the City of Malibu. This is because it sits right on the border between Los Angeles County and Ventura County.

The sandy beach stretches for more than half a mile. On one side, you'll find the Whaler's Village Condominium complex. On the other, there are single-family beach homes. There's a small parking lot, and you can also park along the Pacific Coast Highway. This highway is also part of the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route. County Line Beach is also a good access point for the California Coastal Trail.

Fun Activities at County Line Beach

County Line Beach is a fantastic place for water sports! People love to go board surfing, body surfing, kite surfing, wind surfing, and stand up paddle boarding here. The water quality is usually excellent, often getting an "A+" grade from the group Heal the Bay.

The beach has great waves for surfing. There's a "beach break" with good peaks and a "point break" that stays smooth. This is thanks to the thick kelp beds nearby. Junior surf competitions are sometimes held here. The beach even got famous when the Beach Boys mentioned "Ventura County Line" in their 1963 hit song, Surfin' U.S.A..

Exploring the Ocean Life

Many people enjoy Scuba diving and freediving at County Line Beach. It's easy to get into the water here. The ocean floor has a rich marine habitat with lots of kelp forests and reefs. When the waves are small and the water is clear, diving conditions can be amazing.

The outer reefs are full of sea life. This makes them popular for spear-fishing, especially when white seabass are around. You can also try kayak fishing or fishing from the shore. The biggest catch here is often the California white seabass, usually in late spring and summer. Pacific halibut and Calico bass are also popular fish to catch.

You can often spot amazing wildlife off County Line Beach. This includes dolphins, whales, seals, seabirds, and many types of fish. The large kelp forests and plenty of squid mean there's a huge variety of living things. The squid fishery is also a big business right off the coast.
