Covington is a small village in Miami County, Ohio, United States. In 2020, about 2,548 people lived there. It is part of the larger Dayton area. Covington was officially made a village in 1835. It was built on the spot where an old fort called Fort Rowdy used to be in 1793.

A Look Back at Covington's History
Covington was first planned out in 1816. Before it was called Covington, it had a few other names like Friendship, Newberry, and Stillwater. A post office opened in 1825 with the name Stillwater. Then, in 1836, its name was changed to Covington.
The people in Covington got to see a special event on April 8, 2024: a total solar eclipse. This is when the Moon passes directly between the Sun and Earth, blocking the Sun's light completely.

Covington is a small village. It covers about 1.35 square miles (3.5 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a tiny bit being water. The Stillwater River and Greenville Creek flow along parts of its western border.
