Craig Keystone Monroe (nicknamed "C. Mo") is a former professional baseball player. He was born on February 27, 1977. Craig played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for several teams during his career. These included the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, and Pittsburgh Pirates. After retiring from playing, he became a sportscaster.

Playing Baseball: Craig Monroe's Career
Starting Out in the Major Leagues
Craig Monroe was chosen by the Texas Rangers in the 1995 baseball draft. He made his first appearance in a major league game on July 28, 2001. This game was against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The very next day, Craig hit his first major league home run. This big hit helped the Rangers win the game 2–0. In 2001, he played in 27 games for the Rangers. He had 2 home runs and 5 RBI (runs batted in).
Time with the Detroit Tigers
In 2002, Craig joined the Detroit Tigers. His first full season in the major leagues was in 2003. That year, he hit 23 home runs and had 70 RBI in 128 games.
A special moment happened on July 19, 2006. Craig hit a grand slam home run against the Chicago White Sox. A grand slam means he hit a home run when all three bases were loaded with teammates. This hit was very important because it helped the Tigers win 5–2. At that time, the Tigers and White Sox were competing closely for the lead in their division. Craig said it was the biggest home run he had ever hit.
Craig had a great 2006 season. He hit 28 home runs, which was the most on his team. He also had 92 RBI. The Tigers had a fantastic year, winning 95 games. They made it to the postseason, which is like the playoffs in baseball. They even reached the 2006 World Series. Craig hit five home runs during the 2006 postseason games.
Moving to Other Teams
In 2007, Craig played 99 games with the Tigers. Later that year, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs. He finished the 2007 season playing for the Cubs.
In November 2007, Craig was traded again, this time to the Minnesota Twins. He played for the Twins in 2008. In 2009, Craig signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played his last major league game on June 16, 2009. After that, he retired from playing baseball.

After his playing career, Craig Monroe started a new path as a sportscaster. In 2012, he became a studio analyst for the Detroit Tigers. He worked for Bally Sports Detroit. An analyst helps explain the game and players to viewers.
He also started to commentate on games sometimes. By 2022, you could hear Craig on the radio, talking about Tigers games. He worked with the main play-by-play announcer, Dan Dickerson. In 2023, Craig became the main analyst for Tigers game broadcasts on Bally Sports Detroit.

Craig Monroe's mother is named Marilyn Monroe. She shares the same name as the famous actress. On August 30, 2006, his mother was at Yankee Stadium. Craig and his wife, Kasey, have three children together.
