Creeped Out is an award-winning British and Canadian TV show. It's a horror anthology series, meaning each episode tells a different scary story. The show was created by Bede Blake and Robert Butler. It was made by CBBC Productions and DHX Media.
Creeped Out first aired in the UK on CBBC on October 31, 2017 (Halloween!). In Canada, it premiered on the Family Channel on October 5, 2018. It was also available in the United States as a Netflix original series.
Every episode has its own unique story. What links them together is a mysterious character called 'The Curious'. This character appears at the start and end of each episode. He is a collector of strange stories. The creators, Bede Blake and Robert Butler, said they were inspired by director Steven Spielberg and his show Amazing Stories.
How the Show Works
Creeped Out is an anthology show. This means each episode has a new setting, a new story, and new characters. Think of it like a collection of short scary films. Even though the stories are different, some small details connect them.
At the beginning and end of every episode, you'll see The Curious. This mysterious man, played by William Romain, always has his face hidden by a mask. He says his job is to collect stories. The creators wanted The Curious to be like an "evolving urban legend." They said he isn't a threat to the kids in the stories. He's just curious and observes what happens.
Sometimes, places from one episode are mentioned in others. For example, the town of Karter Bay appears in "Slapstick" and "The Call." Zucco's Pizzeria is mentioned in "Trolled," "No Filter," "Marti," and "Kindlesticks."
Making the Show
The BBC first announced Creeped Out on March 28, 2017. They said the stories would mix sci-fi, horror, adventure, suspense, fantasy, and mystery. The goal was to thrill young viewers.
The creators, Bede Blake and Robert Butler, had a lot of freedom when making the show. They could suggest many different ideas. They wanted to create a show similar to Amazing Stories and The Twilight Zone, but made for a younger, modern audience.
After the episode "The Call," the show took a break for a month. It returned with the episode "Bravery Badge." On August 9, 2018, it was announced that a second series of Creeped Out was ordered. Both CBBC and Family Channel wanted more episodes. The second series began airing on April 24, 2019.
