The Stampfli family started a cemetery on their ranch. Mary A. Stampfli was buried there in 1867. Later, Lewis Stampfli (1869) and Frank Joseph Stampfli (1892) were also buried in the family cemetery.
Community Connections

Growing the Town

Later, in the 1930s, Pearl Peck, a member of the Stampfli family, moved to San Francisco. She married David "Bud" Strong. They had two sons. Pearl missed Crescent Mills, so her family moved back. Bud Strong bought the Stampfli Ranch.
The Stampfli Ranch was very large. It covered the west side of Main Street, went up the mountainside, and stretched into Indian Valley. The middle of the ranch was marked by the corner of Stampfli Lane and Main Street.
The Crescent Mills post office first opened in 1870.
