Starting Out in Football

Time at Inter Milan

In 2000, Inter Milan signed Brocchi. However, his time there was difficult. The coach, Marcello Lippi, was sacked early in the season. Brocchi also faced injuries. He later said his time at Inter was "the worst experience" because he didn't feel supported when he was injured.

Returning to AC Milan

In July 2001, Brocchi returned to AC Milan. He played alongside famous midfielders like Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, and Clarence Seedorf. He had to work hard to earn his place in the team.

Loan to Fiorentina

In 2005, Brocchi was loaned to Fiorentina. He played a full season there. After his loan, he went back to AC Milan.

More Success at AC Milan

Brocchi played a lot during the 2006–07 season, making 29 appearances in Serie A. He became a key player for manager Carlo Ancelotti, often being the first player to come on as a substitute in midfield. During this period, AC Milan won the UEFA Champions League in 2007 and the FIFA Club World Cup later that year.

Joining Lazio

In August 2008, Brocchi moved to Lazio. He signed a three-year contract. His first season with Lazio was successful, as they won the Coppa Italia. He won the Coppa Italia again with Lazio in 2013.

After the 2012–13 season, Brocchi announced he was retiring from playing football. This was due to ongoing injury problems.

International Appearance

Cristian Brocchi played one game for the Italian national team. This was a friendly match against Turkey on November 15, 2006. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Coaching Career

Early Coaching Roles

On April 12, 2016, Brocchi became the head coach of AC Milan. Before this, he had coached the AC Milan youth team since 2014. However, his time as head coach of the main team was short. He was replaced by Vincenzo Montella on June 28, 2016.

Brocchi then coached Serie B club Brescia during the 2016–17 season. He was removed from his role in March 2017 because of poor results. After that, he worked as an assistant coach for Fabio Capello at Chinese club Jiangsu Suning.

Coaching Monza

In October 2018, Brocchi became the new head coach of Serie C club Monza. The club was owned by former AC Milan bosses Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani. In his first season, Monza did not get promoted.

However, in the 2019–20 Serie C season, Brocchi successfully led Monza to win the Serie C title. This meant they were promoted to Serie B. The goal was to get Monza into Serie A for the first time ever. In the 2020–21 Serie B season, Monza finished third, just missing out on automatic promotion. They lost in the play-off semifinals. Brocchi left Monza in May 2021.

Coaching Vicenza

On September 22, 2021, Brocchi was named the new coach of Vicenza. The team was struggling with relegation. He tried to improve their performance, but he was dismissed on April 11, 2022.
