Cristina Urgel García (born on April 5, 1979) is a talented Spanish actress and television presenter. She is well-known for her role as Patricia O’Farrell in the TV series La Reina del Sur. Cristina has appeared in many TV shows and worked as a presenter, making her a familiar face on Spanish television.

Early Life and Education

Cristina Urgel García was born in Soria, Spain, on April 5, 1979. She grew up in Logroño, which is in the nearby region of La Rioja. She attended the IES Mateo Sagasta school there. When she was 17, Cristina even ran as a candidate for Soria in the Miss Spain beauty pageant in 1997.

After finishing school, Cristina went to the University of La Rioja. She earned a degree in Law. However, her passion was acting. So, she moved to Madrid to study acting at the La Barraca School, which was led by Alicia Hermida.

Starting Her Career

Cristina began her acting journey with smaller roles in popular TV series. She appeared in shows like El comisario and Ana y los 7. Later, she got a main role in El auténtico Rodrigo Leal [es]. This show was a Spanish version of a famous Colombian TV series.

Working as a TV Presenter

Besides acting, Cristina also became a familiar face as a TV presenter. She worked for MTV Spain in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, she was a presenter for El Grand Prix del verano, a popular summer game show. She also hosted Adivina quién viene a cenar.

Cristina also worked as a helper or "collaborator" on other TV shows. These included Sé lo que hicisteis... on La Sexta in 2009 and Vaya tropa [es] on Cuatro from 2009 to 2010.

Notable Roles in Television

In 2011, Cristina Urgel played a very important role in La Reina del Sur. She played Patricia O’Farrell, a smart, well-educated, and cultured friend of the main character, Teresa Mendoza. This role helped her become even more recognized.

After La Reina del Sur, Cristina continued to act in other series. She appeared in Bandolera and Ciega a citas. In 2014, she had a small part in two episodes of La que se avecina. After this, Cristina took a break from acting for a few years. During this time, she worked as a collaborator on shows like Amigas y conocidas [es] and the comedy show Dani&Flo [es] in 2017.

Cristina returned to acting in 2020. She joined the cast of the long-running TV series El secreto de Puente Viejo.
