A-ha (usually written as a-ha) is a super popular band from Oslo, Norway. They started making music together in 1982. The band has three members: Morten Harket is the singer, Magne Furuholmen plays keyboards and guitar, and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy plays guitar.
A-ha became famous in the mid-1980s. Their first album, Hunting High and Low, released in 1985, was a huge hit. It reached number one in Norway and number two in the UK. Two songs from this album, "Take On Me" and "The Sun Always Shines on TV", became number-one hits around the world. The band was even nominated for a Grammy Award as Best New Artist.
A-ha announced in 2009 that they would take a break after a big world tour in 2010. This tour was called the Ending on a High Note Tour. Many fans from all over the world came to see their last shows.
But good news! In 2014, A-ha announced they would get back together. They performed at the Rock in Rio festival in 2015. This was special because both the band and the festival were celebrating 30 years. In 2015, they released their tenth album, Cast in Steel. They also went on a tour to support this new album.
A-ha has released ten studio albums and many other collections of their songs. In just one year, around 2010, they earned a lot of money from concerts and merchandise. This made them one of the biggest bands in the world.
The band is in the Guinness World Records book for a huge concert. They played for 198,000 people at the Maracanã Stadium in Brazil during the Rock in Rio festival. Their singer, Morten Harket, also holds a Guinness World Record. In 2001, he was listed for holding the longest note live in a song. He held a note in "Summer Moved On" for an amazing 20.2 seconds!
Their record label, Rhino, says A-ha has sold 55 million records worldwide.
