Crystal Creek, also sometimes called Saltwater Creek, is a beautiful waterway in Queensland, Australia. It flows for about 17.5 kilometers (10.9 miles). The creek starts near Paluma and then winds its way through the town of Mutarnee. Finally, it empties into the Coral Sea.

This creek is a special part of the Paluma Range National Park. It's famous for two popular spots that visitors love: Little Crystal Creek and Big Crystal Creek. Both offer amazing natural beauty and fun activities.

Exploring Crystal Creek's Best Spots

Little Crystal Creek

Little Crystal Creek is a fantastic place to visit. You'll find it along Mt Spec Road, on the way to Paluma village. This area has many small swimming holes where you can cool off. There are also pretty waterfalls to admire.

A very important landmark here is the Little Crystal Creek Bridge. This old arch bridge is a piece of history, with construction starting way back in 1932. It's a great spot for photos! For visitors, there are picnic areas that are easy to access for everyone, including those using wheelchairs. You can also find barbecues and toilets here.

Big Crystal Creek

Just a few kilometers downstream from Little Crystal Creek is Big Crystal Creek. You can reach it by driving to the end of Spiegelhauer Road. This spot also has great facilities for visitors. You'll find picnic areas, barbecues, and toilets, just like at Little Crystal Creek. There's even a special camping ground if you want to stay longer.

The most popular swimming spot at Big Crystal Creek is called Paradise Waterhole. It's much bigger than the swimming holes at Little Crystal Creek. You can get to it by taking a short walk along a bush track from the picnic area. Further down the road, you'll discover the Big Crystal Creek Rockslides. This is another fun swimming spot, famous for its natural waterslides made from mossy rocks. It's a truly unique experience!
