Crystal Geyser Water Company, often called Crystal Geyser, is a company that makes bottled water. It started in 1977 in Calistoga, California. They are known for their sparkling water, which comes from natural mineral and spring water sources.

About Crystal Geyser

Besides sparkling water, Crystal Geyser also makes ready-to-drink teas. These teas are called Tejava and are produced in Bakersfield, California.

In 1990, a Japanese company called Otsuka Pharmaceutical bought Crystal Geyser. This means Crystal Geyser is now part of a larger group.

In 2014, Crystal Geyser wanted to bottle water from an underground water source, an aquifer, near Mount Shasta, California. However, many people living nearby were not happy about this plan. They were worried about the environment. In 2019, a court case about this issue ended, allowing the company to continue its operations.

Where Does the Water Come From?

Crystal Geyser Water Company gets its water from special underground sources. These sources are naturally protected.

  • Mineral water is pumped from deep underground. It naturally contains at least 250 parts per million (ppm) of dissolved minerals.
  • Spring water flows to the surface on its own. It is only called mineral water if it also has at least 250 ppm of dissolved minerals.

Crystal Geyser vs. CG Roxane

It can be a bit confusing, but Crystal Geyser Water Company is different from CG Roxane. Even though CG Roxane sells bottled water with "Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water" on the label, they are separate companies.

Both companies are connected to the same Japanese company, Otsuka Pharmaceutical. However, they operate on their own.

CG Roxane started in 1990. They only make flat (non-sparkling) water. You can find their "Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water" brand all over the United States.

CG Roxane works with a French company called Societe Roxane. Together, they are known as Crystal Geyser Roxane.

CG Roxane has several bottling plants:

  • One plant is in Weed, California, near Mount Shasta.
  • Another plant is in Olancha, California, near Mount Whitney. This plant bottles water for sale in the U.S. and for export to Japan.
  • They also have a bottling plant in Benton, Tennessee.

CG Roxane also supplies water for other brands, like Trader Joe's Natural Mountain Spring Water.
