The Cuja River is a river in Colombia, located in the Cundinamarca region. It is like a smaller stream that flows into a bigger river called the Sumapaz River. The Sumapaz River then joins the much larger Magdalena River. Finally, the waters of the Magdalena River travel all the way to the Caribbean Sea.
Where Does the Cuja River Start and End?
The Cuja River begins high up in a special type of mountain grassland called the Sumapaz Páramo. A "páramo" is a unique ecosystem found in the Andes mountains, known for its cool, wet climate.
From its source, the river flows generally towards the west. It passes through two important towns: Arbeláez and Fusagasugá. In Fusagasugá, the Cuja River meets another river called the Guavio River, Fusagasugá. Before the Guavio River joins the Cuja, there's also a smaller stream called the Batán River that flows into it.
