Early Life and Music Start
Cupid started singing when he was young. He sang in his church's choir. His father, who was a pastor, encouraged him to sing.
College and First Group
Cupid first went to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He had a special scholarship for track and field sports. But he decided to leave the track team. He wanted to form a singing group instead. This group was first called Fasho. Later, they changed their name to Fifth Element.
Becoming a Solo Artist
After Fifth Element broke up, Cupid decided to sing on his own. He performed at many different places. These included talent shows, weddings, and even funerals. He had a very wide vocal range, meaning he could sing many different notes. Because of an amazing performance of the song "Cupid" by the group 112, people started calling him "Cupid." This nickname stuck with him.
